The Jackson Township First Aid Squad joined the Jackson Mills Fire Company, Station 54, and the other fire departments and emergency services of Jackson Township in mourning the loss of Ex-Chief Raymond Hosford, a 28-year member of the fire service, a 9/11 responder, and a former member of the First Aid Squad. Chief Hosford's body was welcomed back to Jackson from Pittsburgh by a procession of emergency apparatus, including three Jackson First Aid Ambulances (226, 227, and 228).
High call volumes continued in March and April for the First Aid Squad,. With 141 calls in March and another 135 in April, the Squad has run approximately 600 calls in the first four months of 2013. Approximately 165 patients were transported to area hospitals by the First Aid Squad in March and April.
On April 13, 2013, the Jackson Township First Aid Squad held a 'coin toss' at the Van Hiseville intersection (the corner of East Veteran's Highway and Bennett's Mills Road) to raise money for new stretchers sorely needed by the Squad. Through the efforts of the members and the generosity of the Jackson community, approximately $2,850 was raised in about four hours of fundraising, bringing the Squad a third of the way to affording its equipment upgrades. |
